I am a native of Covington, Georgia.  I graduated from the University of Georgia in 1994 with a BBA in MIS.  I loved college, but was excited about putting my degree to good use.  I hired on with BellSouth to do Tier II systems and application support on their UNIX-based client-server network.  It was fascinating work which required me to learn to work in a group and to put the customer first.  BellSouth outsourced their IT department to EDS in 1997 and suddenly I found myself working for global company.  I took a promotion to management in 1999 and found a real niche for my personality and skills.

While working for BellSouth, I met my husband.  We were married in 1998 and in 2001 decided to start a family.  My job was too demanding for me to be both a good manager and a good mother, so we made the decision for me to stay home with our children.  We are now the proud parents of two darling little boys.

I have had and currently have lots of hobbies over the years.  I love theatre and did a lot of community theatre up until my children were born.  I love to sing, sew, and I am currently an avid scrapbooker.  However, the biggest hobby that I have kept throughout my life is reading.  I love to read and often if I pick up a book, I cannot put it down.  I specifically like English classic and historical fiction like Jane Austen and Rosamund Pilcher.

As you can see, I am one of those people who likes to stay busy and loves a new "project", so I have done a lot of part time work since quitting EDS.  I started managing a polling precinct in my county in 2004.  I have worked for my son's preschool for the last two years.  I directed the children's choir in our church for four years, and finally, I decided to go to graduate school.

I have always  known that I would re-enter the work force when my children were school age.  When trying to find a good career fit for myself, my mother, a retired teacher, suggested I look into Library Media.  I visited a couple of Media Centers in my county and really liked what I saw.  That took me to my latest project, the quest to become a Library Media Specialist.  I am finishing up two years of hard work at the University of Georgia that has more than prepared me for both educational and media challenges in PK-12 public schools today.  I am excited about my career choice and eager to work in my own center.
